Avondale Library

Food

Avondale Library (Lake Macquarie campus) allows patrons to bring drinks into the library—provided the drinks are in covered containers—but not food. Scraps are a source of food for mice and rats—the rodents also eat books. Please respect the need for cleanliness by not bringing food into the library.

Primo Search

Primo Search is a one-stop shop for searching Avondale Library’s electronic and print resources. No more searching the catalogue and the databases individually. Choose “Search All” to search everything—including articles in individual databases—the library has to offer. Choose “Books, journals, DVDs & more” to limit your search to the library catalogue. Choose “Articles” to limit your search to the library’s online databases. See the library staff on your campus to learn more.

Two-hour loans

Reserve books have a new name: two-hour loans. All reserve items are now available for two-hour loan.

Financial and Business Services

Wage payment day change

Financial and Business Services is changing the wage payment day for staff members and students from Monday to Tuesday. The current payment cycle—Sunday to Saturday with wage payments processed fortnightly on Mondays—leaves too little time to process time sheets and resolve queries. Changing the wage payment day will reduce the number of adjustments in the following payment cycle. If you have any direct debits timed to coincide with the wage payment day, you will need to move these back one day. Financial and Business Services will change the wage payment day from the pay period ending September 17 for staff members and September 24 for students.
