Dr Jason Morton Underwater Study

Senior lecturer Dr Jason Morton has received media attention for his underwater study of the Lake Macquarie catchment. The study, which covered Speers Point to Gwandalan, used underwater cameras to record and document species living in the area.

After Jason presented a lecture on his study at a Lake Macquarie City Council Marine Series event, The Herald published an article about the study and its findings on page seven of its July 8 edition.

Local radio stations 2NUR FM and 1233 ABC Newcastle also aired live interviews with Jason about his study the morning of July 8.

Young Alumni of the Year

Advancement’s media release about the announcement of Johnny Murison as Avondale College Alumni Association’s Young Alumni of the Year made news in Record.

The official journal of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific published the release as one of its longer news articles on July 3.

Green Avondale

Cooranbong Gazette published in its July edition Advancement’s media release about the launch of Avondale College’s Environmental Sustainability Policy. Editor John Duffy even attended the launch—he is a supporter of local, green initiatives. The release appears on page 11.

Barbara Fisher Book Launch

The launch of senior education lecturer Barbara Fisher’s textbook Developing a Faith-based Education: A Teacher’s Manual continues to make news.

Finding David

Faculty of Arts Lecturer, Brad Watson appeared on Record InFocus, June 11, to talk about his teen novel Finding David. The book addresses the trials and tribulations of adolescence.

Morisset Library Donation

Lakes Mail has published in its June 24 edition Advancement’s media release about Avondale College’s donation of items to Morisset Library. Graphic designer Ann Stafford’s photograph of librarians Marilyn Gane and Andrew Boyce helped give the release a prominent place on page eight of the newspaper.

Tom Ludowici Bioethics Collection

Advancement’s media release about the naming of the Tom Ludowici Bioethics Collection formed most of an article about the event published in the winter edition of the Sydney Adventist Hospital newsletter Pacemaker.
