Watch first-person accounts of the impact of serving in a revealing episode of You Can’t Ask That, and discover more about our nation’s role in global conflicts. Begin your historiography of World War I with Charles Bean’s Great War, relive a journalist’s experience in Gallipoli: When Murdoch Went to War, and hear personal stories from soldiers’ diaries, as narrated by Sam Neill in Gallipoli. Australian Story tells World War II’s The Story of the Krait and learn about the technology that shaped life in the trenches in Aussie Inventions That Changed the World.

Australia at war: changing perspectives

See how depictions of Australia’s involvement in war have changed over eight decades, from 1940’s World War I epic Forty Thousand Horsemen, to 2019’s Vietnam War drama, Danger Close. Revisit Australian New Wave film with Breaker Morant, Gallipoli and The Lighthorsemen, and the more recent Kokoda and Beneath Hill 60.

DATABASE OF THE MONTH August: Taylor & Francis

July 30, 2021 by Rebecca Hawken

What it is:

Taylor & Francis Online provides access to millions of quality, peer-reviewed journal articles published under the Taylor & Francis and Routledge imprints spanning Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Healthcare.

Taylor & Francis is one of the world’s largest publishers of open access research. We publish over 180 high-quality full open access journals, ranging across disciplines and subject areas.

Who it’s for: Arts, Business, Education, Health and Social Care and the Social Sciences.

How to access it:
A-Z Databases: T (avondale.edu.au)

Select Taylor & Francis Social Science and Humanities Library

Special features:
The People Also Read feature is available on the right hand side of the article page, and it allows you to find popular articles that your peers are already reading that may be of interest to you.

The ‘Google Translate‘ button enables you to explore articles in your chosen language. Select the relevant language from the dropdown list on article pages.

The DataCite link has been added to article abstracts. Where an author has deposited data to a repository supported by DataCite, a link to the data will appear under the article abstract, and where an author has deposited data to multiple repositories, links to all repositories will appear in a pop-up.
Authors are increasingly opting to submit their supporting data to a repository, and in many cases they’re required to do so as a condition of their funding. We’ve now made that data more accessible through bi-directional linking that takes users from the article to the related data and back again.
