Signs books share creativity and justice internationally

Translations of two books published in Australia by the Seventh-day Adventist Church are now adding to conversations about creativity, justice and faith in different languages.

Manifest: Our Call to Faithful Creativity has been published in Romanian by Editura Viata Si Sanatate. Inspiration for the book came from the Manifest Creative Arts Festival. The book launched at the festival in 2013.

Do Justice: Our Call to Faithful Living launched the following year with the support of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Australia and internationally. A selection of chapters from the Australian book has now been published in Norwegian as Rettferdighet! by Norske Bokforlag.

Both Norske Bokforlag and Editura Viata Si Sanatatet are the Adventist publishing houses in their respective countries.

“Although I don’t have any ability to read these languages, it’s interesting to see what other publishers do with these books,” says co-editor Nathan Brown, who is also Book Editor for publisher Signs Publishing. “Both these books have already been sold and shared in English in many parts of the world, but it’s pleasing to see the message of these books connecting with readerships we would not be able to reach.”

Manifest and Do Justice were edited by Nathan Brown and Newcastle-based artist, educator and preacher Joanna Darby. The books include chapters by a number of Avondale College of Higher Education lecturers and alumni, as well as other contributors from around the worldwide Adventist Church.
