Dr D Graham Stacey

“Continuing revelation or cognitive dissonance: how Christians can change unchangeable truths.”

An examination of how faith communities, when confronted by overwhelming evidence on difficult issues, deal with cognitive dissonance. Are faith keepers truth seekers?

Is examining evidence good, or is it anti-faith? Ultimately, as faith keepers, we can change our minds in light of the evidence, reject the evidence and maintain our original position, or we can abandon or ignore the field of enquiry altogether. This presentation will explore options compatible with our claim that we, as faith keepers, are indeed truth seekers as well.

Featuring: Dr Graham Stacey.

Graham is a clinical psychologist who is associate dean for admissions and student affairs in the School of Dentistry and an adjunct faculty member in the School of Religion (teaching bioethics and relational theology) and in the Department of Psychology (teaching behavioural sciences and supervising research) at Loma Linda University.

Presented by Sydney Adventist Forum and Avondale College of Higher Education.

Freewill offering.
