Tell Me A Story
August 12, 2017, 6.30 PM-9.00 PM
$15.00Revisit the art of storytelling and of spoken word
Tell Me A Story is a celebration of stories. Stories told passionately, truthfully and convincingly. Expect humour and pathos. Expect to be entertained and challenged.
These raconteurs drew a large crowd at the first Tell Me A Story as part of the Manifest Creative Arts Festival in 2015. The return of the event is likely to be even more popular this year—you’ll love connecting with our new raconteurs and their stories.
Featuring: academic and historian Dr Lisa Clark Diller; novelist Lynnette Lounsbury; entertainer and motivational speaker Francine Bell; poet Roje; and minister and faithful creative Pr Tony Knight. Also featuring: Clansi Rogers; and Angela and Landon Sell.
“Spoken word is probably the least employed form of storytelling in our current culture—in a formal sense,” says co-producer Joanna Darby. But it is an important one. “Stories don’t need explaining or have moral points drawn out. We experience them individually and find our own meaning from them.”
