What Government Assistance are you entitled to?

In Australia you are lucky to benefit from different types of Government Assistance to help you study after school. How do you know what you are entitled to and what your best options are?

This might be the first time you are signing up for a loan but don’t be scared. A lot of people in Australia have benefitted from student study loans and without them most people wouldn’t be able to afford to get a degree.

Here are some helpful points on understanding the basics of Government Assistance to get you started.

Government Assistance 101
The Australian Government can provide substantial financial assistance to you when you decide to undergo further study after school. Depending on what you study and where you study, you could be eligible for different financial assistance options and student loans. You can find out more from the government website StudyAssist.

What’s the difference between a CSP and a FEE-HELP loan and how do I apply?
At Avondale we offer Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) for eligible students studying a teaching or nursing degree. We offer FEE-HELP loans to eligible students studying an art, business, science, or ministry degree.

A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is a tuition fee subsidisation scheme. FEE-HELP loans are an Australian Government loan scheme. With both schemes, in most circumstances, you won’t have to pay for your tuition fees up front. You will pay your fees back when you start earning an income that is above the compulsory repayment threshold which is set by the Australian Government each year. A lot of people in Australia have benefitted from these options allowing people an equal opportunity to study, regardless of their financial position before they graduate and gain employment.

When you apply at Avondale you are automatically considered for a CSP or FEE-HELP loan depending on the course and your citizenship status. If you receive an offer to study at Avondale, you may then receive a CSP or a FEE-HELP loan and will be prompted from Admissions to accept and confirm your details.

The Avondale Admissions team are there to guide you through the application process and to help you understand your entitlements and what Government Assistance you could be eligible for so contact them now.
