Broaden Your Horizons

Avondale Futures Day provides an opportunity for students to visualise their potential at Avondale and experience university life. The day’s full program of meeting lecturers, eating Caf food and having uni fun, is often a turning point for many students as they visit the campus and experience it for themselves. On Tuesday 5th June over 200 high school students did just that and visualised their potential at Avondale.

Special guest host Gawndy (from the Central Coast’s SEAhit101.3 central coast) joined us to MC for the day with his crew from SEA. There was fun and laughter had by all.

One student travelled from New Zealand and one from Brisbane with the majority of guests being from the local area. They were able to learn more about particular study areas from different lecturers, see the residence halls and get some handy hints on studying for the HSC and preparing for University.

The day was fully catered with morning tea and lunch from the cafeteria with plenty of opportunity to experience Avondale and also have some fun during the afternoon activities. There was a basketball shooting competition, Weet-Bix eating competition, egg and spoon race with a twist and an Avondale trivia competition. With loads of prizes up for grabs including the famous Avondale hoodies and the major prize, a $150 voucher going to a local Morisset High School student.

We were even lucky enough for the rain to stop to get our annual group photo in the Amphitheatre.
