Peak industry body gives boost to our business degree

It’s significant (and good news for students). An undergraduate business degree at Avondale is now endorsed by the professional body for human resources in Australia.

After a comprehensive and lengthy application process, the Australian HR Institute has accredited our Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) for three years.

“This is the industry saying it recognises we prepare work ready graduates,” says course convenor Dr Peter Williams. “Students can enrol in this study program with confidence because it will prepare them well for a career in HR.”

Confidence seems key. In his letter of confirmation, the institute’s National Accreditation Committee Chair Professor Alan Nankervis writes that “supporting the achievement of consistently high outcomes” makes “significant progress towards building the confidence of Australian business, and prospective students, in the HR profession.”

In completing the application, Peter linked all teaching content in the degree—not just content in core units—to categories identified by the institute as a model of excellence. The application also asked for information outside of the curriculum (such as evidence of external moderation, for example). “So, the accreditation is also kudos for those teaching into the degree and for the links we’ve created with industry,” he says.
