Please support our fellow students this Christmas

We are Amity and Tahleana, Avondale University’s student leaders this year, and we are writing to you about transformational gifts that are close to our hearts.

As our experience at Avondale comes to an end, we are grateful for God’s leading in our lives and in the lives of our classmates. We’re encouraged when we hear that you as alumni and friends pray for us, donate to projects that make our experience even better and encourage your own children and grandchildren to join us as students here. Thank you!

It’s also the time of year when we reflect on the stories of Jesus’ birth, like the star that led wise men from the East to the place where Jesus was. “Overcome, they kneeled and worshipped him” (Matthew 2:11, The Message). Meeting Jesus transforms the lives of these scholars: learning and discovery now has new meaning.

As in the Nativity, faith-based learning gives us as Avondale students the knowledge, the skills and the motivation to change the world for good.

We think of classmates like Louise Huang (pictured) who reminds us that helping can come full circle. If you have read Louise’s story, you may remember that Louise struggled with physics in high school and wanted to drop it but a teacher helped her see the subject as a personal challenge and persevere. Now a science-teaching student at Avondale, Louise is helping others as a private tutor and Kids Hope mentor.

Louise wanted to study at a Christian university, so receiving the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship helped bring her to Avondale.

You can help other students like Louise reach their God-given potential by giving gifts of transformation this Christmas. We hope you will enjoy choosing gifts from Avondale’s first catalogue, which you can browse here.

When you give a gift, you make a donation to scholarships that directly support current and prospective students at Avondale. We may all be students at university now, but in just a few years, we will be leaders in churches, schools and communities.

You can choose to give a gift on behalf of someone else, in memory of someone or simply because you enjoy supporting students like us.

When you purchase one or more gifts in support of Avondale students by December 5, you’ll receive a pack of five cards to give to those you love for Christmas.

Thank you for your support.
