She brings God’s love to all

Priscilla Mariassouce begins as the new chaplain on our Lake Macquarie campus this semester. An alumna (BMinTh, 2018), she returns to Avondale with local church pastoral and school chaplaincy experience. We asked her seven questions. Here are the answers she gave.

Who served as chaplain when you studied at Avondale? What do you most remember about them and their ministry?
Wayne French. He encouraged us to try anything when it came to ministry ideas and spirituality.

How do you define success as chaplain?
That people feel safe with you.

Name your top professional and personal achievement.
Professional: This job. Personal: Becoming a mother.

What are you reading?
Reading Winning the War in Your Mind by Craig Groeschel and listening to The Yes Brain Child by Drs Daniel J Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson.

Who’s one of your heroes?
Can I name two? Bobbie Houston and Christine Caine. Both women have pioneered ministries and global movements to make humanity better, serve others and make love the default.

How do you pick yourself up after a setback?
I go to God. He brings comfort and helps me make sense of things. I also have a group of people who are absolute rocks in my life.

Complete this sentence: “My greatest love in life is . . . ”
My husband, Zayne, because we’ve worked to build an awesome marriage. And my son, who has taught me so much about God’s love and His reach.
