New role will build community on campus

Jodi Duncan is back. As a student (BEd, 1997), her classmates remember Jodi using the phrase, “Here for a good time, not a long time.” It now reflects more of a Christian worldview—bringing heaven to earth—that will influence the on-campus experience of others. Jodi is our new Residential Life and Sport and Recreation Coordinator. We asked her some questions. Here are the answers she gave.

What are you most enjoying about your new role?
Living daily alongside young adults who are navigating their future plans while building amazing connections with others and creating lifelong memories and experiences. I love that we are “family” and no matter what the circumstances, we’re not alone in this journey of learning.

Complete this sentence: “My greatest love in life is . . . ”
Seeing people look out for each other and work together for good.

How do you spend your spare time?
I’ll let you know when I get some! So far, my adventures off campus have been to take my son to and from school.

Encourage us with a piece of advice or a life motto.
You’re not a tree. You can change your circumstances and scenic outlook.

How do you pick yourself up after a setback?
Reflective thinking is key for me. I ask myself questions. What’s working? What’s not? How can I do things differently? What needs to change? I’ve learnt self-care is vital when we have roles in leadership or service.
