This is the age of technology and in many ways human beings are better for it. But what happens when brains and technology collide? This presentation presents information about the current fascination with technology along with some of its benefits and inherent dangers.

Thursday, May 9
“Who’s in charge—you, your mind or your brain? Good question!”
This presentation discusses some of what is known about the brain versus the mind and the conscious versus the subconscious. It includes information on the role of willpower and how to use that brain faculty to your advantage. It presents the work of Dr Daniel Wegner related to the white bear phenomenon and its role in choice, along with the contributions of genetics and epigenetics. It concludes with a perspective on how freewill may actually function.
