Celebrating a century of gospel and worship music

A musical celebration of 100 years of gospel and worship music with the Institute of Worship Orchestra as a finale to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Australia’s Empower Ministerial Convention.

Includes early gospel songs such as “Softly and Tenderly” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” and contemporary worship songs written by composers such as Avondale College of Higher Education alumnus Benjamin Milis. Bill and Gloria Gaither’s “Because He Lives” provides a stirring finale.

Featuring vocal soloist Marian Moroney, vocal ensemble Ardentsound and pianists Dr Lyell Heise and Valmai Hill.

Presented by the Institute of Worship at Avondale College of Higher Education as part of the Avondale Concert Series.

Evensong is free but the Institute of Worship collects a freewill offering to support the ministry of its 60-piece orchestra.
