It was a “forgone conclusion” in the Bingham family that any tertiary education would begin at Avondale, and James Bingham was no exception. Born and raised in Geelong, the recipient of the 2016 Homecoming honour year citation for the Class of 1966 travelled to Cooranbong having been encouraged by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Victoria to “think big for Christ.”

His newest instalment in this lifelong project is the two-volume Jesus of Nazareth, and it’s a worthy addition to the library of re-tellings John anticipated.

Running the series in Hamilton, New Zealand, with friend David Currie awakened in Athal Tolhurst a “strong sense of God’s call” to dedicate his life to ministry and led him to Avondale.
