Elizabeth Ostring and Janet Augustinsen’s submissions will now appear in Ministry, a magazine published by the Seventh-day Adventist church since 1928.

Elizabeth, who received $US400 in prize money, based her submission on an essay she wrote for a unit in her Master of Ministry degree. “Our eternally righteous God: Paul’s great controversy theme in Romans 11” appears in the September edition with the first and the other second prize winning articles from the contest.

Janet’s submission, “Jesus leadership as a model for ministry,” explores Jesus leadership style and techniques as represented in Scripture as a model for leadership in the 21st century.

“When we commence these writing contests, we wait with great anticipation to read the submissions and anticipate outstanding work from the students,” writes Nikolaus Satelmajer in the magazine’s editorial. “Once again, they have fulfilled our hopes. . . . We congratulate each of them and thank God for the quality of young people studying for the ministry.”

Elizabeth graduated in 2009 and is now completing a Doctor of Philosophy degree at Avondale. Janet is completing a Master of Theology (Research), also at Avondale.
