Offers hope for Year 12 students

Avondale College offers hope for Year 12 students who may have received a lower Australian Tertiary Admission Rank than they were expecting.

The Lake Macquarie, New South Wales-based higher education provider offers direct entry into its undergraduate degree courses to students with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 63 or above or an Overall Position (OP) of 17 or below.

This is essentially the same ATAR and the same OP that students needed to enter undergraduate courses at Avondale this year.

Avondale may still admit students to an undergraduate course if their ATAR is below 63 or if their OP is above 17. Read the Admission to Undergraduate Courses policy for alternative admission options.

“Whatever your rank, we’d love to hear from you,” says Avondale’s Enquiry and Enrolment Centre leader Sharon Turner. “Talk to us. We can recommend a program that best suits your needs and interests.”

The Universities Admissions Centre released ATARs for more than 50,000 New South Wales Higher School Certificate students yesterday.

ATAR is the primary criterion for entry into most undergraduate higher education courses in Australia, gradually introduced during 2009 and 2010 to replace the Universities Admission Index, the Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank and the Tertiary Entrance Rank. However, it is not used in Queensland, which retains its OP tertiary entrance rank.
