The marketing dream continues as Avondale College of Higher Education hosted the Central Coast Career Pathways Expo, June 26, for a second consecutive year.

Despite the rain, 6000 senior students from about 30 public and private schools in the region attended, meaning the expo will be the largest event on the Lake Macquarie campus this year.

Some 480 exhibitors from 120 entities set up in the Chan Shun Auditorium and in the Jim Hanson Fitness Centre with help from the 40 student workers serving in marketing roles. A post on Avondale’s Facebook from the Manufacturing Industries Group Apprenticeship Scheme summarises the exhibitors’ experience. “Wonderful venue for the expo. Thank you . . . for looking after us. I hope everyone found it as productive as we did.”

Director of advancement and marketing Colin Crabtree says the expo not only generates enquiries but also goodwill. “Forty per cent of our enquiries came from this event last year, so you can get the Avondale experience even in one day. Students and teachers who’d not been on campus told me they loved our facilities and were glad they came.”
