Meet the Arts Staff

Cherelle Parker is the School of Humanities and Creative Arts Administrative Assistant and if things are working smoothly, it’s probably because of her.

What is your job within the Arts and what does a usual day look like for you?

My job here at Avondale is the Administrative Assistant for Humanities and Creative Arts. It varies but a typical day for me could involve preparing spreadsheets, drafting Minutes for board meetings, working in Moodle, formatting reports among other things.

Your accent gives you away, you are clearly a Brit… Where have you come from and how did you end up here at Avondale?

Yes, I am from the UK and originally from London (but have lived in other parts of the UK also). The short answer to the next part of the question… I fell in love! I met my now-husband back in the UK, got married in April 2018 then I moved to Australia and lived here ever since. I discovered and applied for this role last year and have been given this wonderful opportunity to work at Avondale.

What did you do before you came here, what did you study, where did you work, etc.

I previously worked for a health insurance organisation but I have a work background in administration and retail. I studied a Law degree in the UK which I found to be very interesting.

What do you do with your spare time, What are your passions?

I love to hang out with my husband and dog at home. I also have a penchant for cooking and baking and I’m slowly building up a collection of recipe books. My husband and I love to try new foods and visit new places. I also like to exercise and go for walks.
