Landscape gardener transported to hospital

A landscape gardener at Avondale University College sustained superficial facial injuries during a farm burn on the Lake Macquarie campus yesterday afternoon.

The staff member received first aid from colleagues before the arrival of emergency services.

As a precaution, he was transported by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service to John Hunter Hospital for assessment and treatment but is being released today. He begins follow-up treatment next week.

Avondale is continuing to offer pastoral care and support.
