Ytravel Travel Writing Competition

Love to travel? I mean who doesn’t?

We want to hear about it. We publish new writers who love to travel, and to encourage you to get pen to paper (so to speak – we know it will be words on a screen), we’re having a travel writing competition.

We are offering cash for your best travel writing – $100 for first place, $50 for second place – and entry is completely free.

Your work can take any form you like – a story about your trip, a non-fiction guide to a specific location, a fictional story about a place you’ve been, poetry or even a photo-essay (a series of photos linked together by text).

The rules:

– it must be a travel story/piece

– it must be no more than 1000 words (no more than 8 images for a photo essay)

– it is your own original work and has never been published

– you can enter as many times as you like, but remember, we prefer quality to quantity.

You retain all rights to your own work and can use it however you would like after the competition.

Stories need to be emailed as a word.doc or pdf to the Editor Lynnette Lounsbury ([email protected]) by midnight Monday, October 2nd, 2017.

The 2017 Judges:

Writer Bron Bates of www.expressivecompulsive.com

Writer and Photographer Michelle Abel of https://michelleabelphoto.com/

Writer, traveller, adventurer and musician Jonny Dustow of Vanlife Diaries and the Rebel on a Rainbow.

Disclaimer: The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. Winning writers will be given a certificate, will be published on the Ytravel blog during the month of October and will receive payment by either bank transfer or cash (writer’s choice).
