Two hours South of Perth, WA, is a little coastal treasure that holds beautiful beaches, amazing activities and exciting experiences for the whole family to enjoy. Busselton (or ‘Busso’ as the locals say), is a town offering natural surrounds for tourists to embrace and explore. Check out five of the most popular fun family things to do in and around Busselton.

  1. Busselton Jetty

Busselton Jetty is one of the most iconic structures in Western Australia. Being the longest wooden jetty (pier) in the Southern Hemisphere, stretching to over 1.8 km of the waters of Geographe Bay, tourists from all over venture out to walk the length. With only a $4 fee for all day access, activities of all kinds can be done; walking, swimming, fishing and diving. For those who do not wish to walk, there is a train available – for an extra cost – and passengers are still exposed to the beautiful views of the ocean.

  1. Simmos Ice Creamery

Dunsborough, located a mere twenty-five minutes from Busselton, a place that is a must-do experience. Not only does Simmos offer sixty award winning flavours of ice cream, they also have a range of fun activities to keep the whole family amused. Enjoy the serenity of the natural environment whilst the children run around and have fun on the play equipment available and don’t forget to meet famous Edward the Emu. Spend an hour or two playing a game of mini golf, with eighteen holes containing different challenges, ready to entertain anyone who challenges it.  You have a fun tone here, it is engaging and interesting, but remember that you need to reach your target audience – GenY/Millennials who will expect a little more edge than this.

  1. Chocolate factory

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate… who doesn’t love chocolate! Experience the world of chocolate with the deliciousness of free samples, many goods ready for purchase, and the opportunity to see the products being made. Located only thirty minutes from Busselton in the beautiful town of Margaret River, visitors can indulge in the rich chocolate, enjoy many items from the café menu and relax in the peacefulness of the outdoors.

  1. Wonky Windmill Farm and Eco Park

Looking for a farm experience? Head to the Wonky Windmill Farm and Eco Park! Your day will be packed full of activities and learning opportunities. With little furry friends, available to pet and feed, families are shown the life of a farmer. Free tastings of home grown marmalades, jams, pickles and olives are offered along with many products for purchase. Depending on the season of your visit, various fruits are available for picking.

  1. Whale Watching

September through to November are when the whales come out to play. Though the times of year that whale watching is available is minimal, if you get the opportunity, take it. Get a front seat view of one of the largest mammals in the world including the Humpback, Southern Right, Minke and Blue Whales. Alongside this, a common sight of dolphins and seals will be a bonus to this rare activity.

So, come on down and enjoy this little get away. With all the fun activities and natural environments, it has to offer, Busselton is the perfect holiday for you.
